Halaqa
Halaqa is a regional project that takes place at Malmö Konsthall in the summer of 2026. The project is inspired by the exhibition How to Call a Ghost by Moroccan-French artist Bouchra Khalili (6.6–13.9) and aims to bring people together around contemporary art.
Central to Khalili’s work is the belief in the power of oral storytelling. Her exhibition addresses issues related to belonging, community and democracy. The theme has served as a starting point for the project Halaqa, meaning ring, circle and assembly in Arabic.
In the project, Malmö Konsthall is working together with Svensk-Algeriska Föreningen, Hand i Hand and Irakiska Kulturföreningen in collaboration with ABF Malmö. During the exhibition, these associations will arrange creative workshops and special guided tours for the public. The Halaqa project also invites other associations/organizations in the region to take part in guided tours, conversations and collaborations.

The project is financed with support from Region Skåne.
