Together with local associations and ABF Malmö, Malmö Konsthall invites you to Halaqa Day – a free day filled with a mini bazaar, storytelling, music, workshops, and guided tours. Admission free.

Halaqa means ring or circle in Arabic and refers to a gathering where people come together to listen, share stories, and exchange experiences. Halaqa Day marks the conclusion of Malmö Konsthall’s regional Halaqa project, which took place during the summer of 2026 and was inspired by Bouchra Khalili’s exhibition How to Call a Ghost. Drawing on the exhibition’s themes – the power of oral storytelling, belonging, community, and democracy – the project has created new spaces for encounters where contemporary art becomes a starting point for dialogue, conversation, and shared stories.

As part of the project, Malmö Konsthall has collaborated with the Swedish-Algerian Association, Hand in Hand, and the Iraqi Cultural Association, in partnership with ABF Malmö. The associations have been invited to lead workshops and storytelling tours for the public.

Halaqa Day is organised together with Hand in Hand, the Iraqi Cultural Association, and the Swedish-Algerian Association, in collaboration with ABF Malmö. The Halaqa project is funded with support from Region Skåne.
