Are you interested in holding a creative workshop at Malmö Konsthall? This summer Malmö Konsthall U will open its Summer Plaza for everyone between 13 and 30 years. We will be open the 23 of June to 3 July. We will be open Tuesday – Friday, 1 pm – 5 pm the two following weeks, the final day being 3 July. Each day we host a 2-hour workshop, held by young creative people.

The workshop can be about anything, but note that everything will be held outside, weather conditions like wind or sun can affect the activity. There is also limited access to electricity and running water, so take that into account when you plan your workshop. But we will of course try to accommodate your vision as much as possible!

The Summer Plaza will always be manned by volunteers and our staff at Malmö Konsthall U, so you will have full support through out the day. The workshops are paid, but please note that we pay a fixed fee, so if you want to be two or more people holding the workshop, the fee will have to be split between you.

Write a short proposal (max one A4 ) where you write a little bit about yourself (age, what your creative background is, any previous experience with holding workshops, or anything else that might be relevant). Don’t forget to add your availability and if you have any preferred dates for your workshop. Describe your workshop idea. Try to be as brief and concrete as possible. Add a list of what materials and/or amenities you will need.

Example: Workshop: Screen printing – Learn the basics of screen printing, without the need for chemical processing, by using self-made paper stencils.

Method: Every participant designs their own motif and creates a stencil using paper and box cutters. The stencil is taped to the screen and then used to print on fabric or paper. You can make a limited number of prints with each stencil.

Materials: Screens, various print colours, palette knives, paper, box cutters, cutting mats, paper tape, pens, rulers, erasers, paper towels and water to clean the screens, fabric, clothes and somewhere for the prints to dry.

In the summers, the art hall square transforms into a gathering place. You can drop by and take part in one of our workshops, trying out graffiti, DJing, clothing printing, or K-pop. You’re also welcome to come by with friends just to hang out at our container café. Sommartorget 2026 will take place from June 23 to July 7. Sommartorget is organized in collaboration with KRUT, Arena 305, Kulturskolan, and WIP.

The program is developed in close collaboration with young people in Malmö. For larger events, we work with reference groups where youth help shape workshops, marketing, and the overall design of the Sommartorget. All contributions are paid.

The art hall has an amazing workshop space that is open to everyone. Sometimes we organize special workshops aimed at young people. Among others, Ossian Theselius, Kim Demåne, Jane Chikane, Malmö VÄV, and Hallyu House have led workshops. Check the calendar for dates.

Sometimes we host pop-up activities at different locations around Malmö. One year, we rented a space in the Triangeln shopping center for a few weeks and invited artists, writers, and performers to lead workshops.
