Curatorial Imaginaries: Towards New Practices of Access and Inclusion is a two-day programme in Malmö and Ystad for curators, artists, educators and others working in the art field and its institutions. The programme explores work, solidarity and the commons, and the conditions that create participation and a sense of belonging in the arts. It includes lectures, workshops, exhibition visits and conversations.
At Malmö Konsthall, the programme includes an afternoon of two lectures on 13 October, “Practicing Solidarity” and “A Sense of Purpose”. The day concludes with a workshop, “Collective Mapping of Curiosities”.
Contributors include curator and writer Théo-Mario Coppola, curator and cultural mediator Leandro Ferre Caetano, as well as Lawrence Ebelle and Scott William Raby from the Danish organisation UKK.
The programme takes place at Ystad Art Museum, Malmö Konsthall, Skēnē and Fuxia2 on 13–14 October 2026. Participation is free, but some parts of the programme require registration by 1 October.

Ystad & Malmö
09:00–09:45 Travel to Ystad and introduction during the bus journey by SCF and UKK. Meeting point: car park behind Malmö Opera. Please arrive by 08:50.
10:00–11:00 Visit to Ystad Konstmuseum. Guided tour of Jenny Kalliokulju’s exhibition with curator Ellen Klintenberg.
11:30–12:30 Return to Malmö.
12:30–13:30 Lunch at Malmö Konsthall. Participants are welcome to purchase lunch from the restaurant and eat together.
13:30–14:30 Public lecture: Practicing Solidarity – Remaking Art Ecosystems Together. Lawrence Ebelle and Scott William Raby (UKK) open with UKK’s ongoing work on labour, diversity, and collective organisation in the arts between artists, curators, and art workers. They propose how, by moving away from linear food-chain models towards more symbiotic ways of thinking about artistic ecosystems, we might reshape the art sector through solidarity, commoning, and intersectional approaches.
14:30–15:00 Coffee and fika.
15:00–16:00 Public lecture: A Sense of Purpose. Théo-Mario Coppola considers what a sense of purpose demands in curatorial work: the deliberate, self-aware capacity to act meaningfully in relation to context, responsibility, and time. Building on commons and intersectionality, they outline how knowledge-building, decision-making, and collective processes take shape within contemporary aesthetic practices.
16:00–17:00 Afternoon break and visit to Malmö Konsthall
An opportunity to explore Otobong Nkanga’s exhibition.
17:00–18:00 Workshop introduction: Collective Mapping of Curiosities. Leandro Ferre Caetano introduces a collective, process-based approach to curating, inviting participants to trace and reflect on what shapes their attention and practice over the course of the gathering.
18:30–20:30 Evening gathering with catered aperitivo at Skēnē.
