Vad havet hostar upp (What the Sea Spits Up)
12.9–2.11 2025 in the Workshop
During the 2024/2025 school holidays, the artists Aleksandra Kucharska and Lotten Pålsson conducted workshops at after-school centers across Malmö.
During the workshop, we explored materials that had ended up in and been brought up from the sea – everything from plastic and polystyrene to organic materials like wood and shells. Together, we reflected on what these objects might have been and what they could become. The children created their own imaginative pieces from the found beach items, which were then combined into a collective artwork: an underwater world. We used clay as a base and incorporated the found materials to spark creativity and encourage thinking about sustainability.
The project was developed in collaboration with Malmö Konsthall as part of the Cultural Department’s initiative to promote cultural participation in children’s leisure activities. Read more about cultural participation (in Swedish).
