Rawiya – She who tells a story
5.9 – 1.12 2013
The photography collective Rawiya was founded in 2009 by a group of female photographers from the Middle East. The word Rawiya is Arabic and means “she who tells a story.” Rawiya reflects on social and political issues from an individual perspective and challenges our stereotypes. The members’ images depict people’s lives in a region undergoing change and address, among other things, the consequences of war. They focus particularly on women’s experiences of everyday life in the Middle East.
