A contribution to the debate on how artistic decoration in our preschools can be shaped into an active play environment. Curt Fors, Kai Glans, Elisabeth Wahlberg, and Majken Sörman-Olsson came up with the idea to build a play landscape and show what artists, interior designers, and textile artists can create together. A fantasy landscape unfolded, featuring textile caves and foam rubber boats. The music group Trifolium, a daily presence in the landscape, sang and played for the children.
What is Levande Verkstad (Living Workshop)? The association’s motto is to give people the opportunity to develop their innate creativity through hands-on creation — making art is not a privilege for the few, but a necessity for everyone. The association bases its work on a pedagogical approach that originated in the Bauhaus movement of the 1920s and became established in Sweden during the 1950s. The collaboration with Levande Verkstad began as early as 1976, and many projects have taken place over the years. When the weather permits, the creative activities are moved outdoors.
