Opening: Speaking Volumes

at

A warm welcome to kick-off the art season with us at the opening of the group exhibition Speaking Volumes! The exhibition brings to light six unique artistic practices from the USA, UK and Sweden, and is a celebration of the supported art studio community.

Participating artists are David Cheung (SE), Alan Faulds (UK), Mattias Johansson (SE), Maweuna Kattah (UK), Nicole Storm (US) and Monica Valentine (US). Their distinct visual languages each reveal different ways of experiencing the world, and our shared experience of being human.

One aspect that unites these artists is their access to supported studios — communities that enable artists with disabilities to develop their singular creative practices. The exhibition is curated by Lucy Smalley, Malmö Konsthall.

Stora Blå Jam is a duo formed within Stora Blå Syd – a daily activity center under the LSS framework for people on the autism spectrum who enjoy creative expression. At Stora Blå Syd, participants learn to play instruments, sing, write, and produce music. Stora Blå Jam will perform at the opening with an experimental jam featuring piano and guitar.

Wander Leo is a Lund-based artist engaged in several musical projects across different genres. At the opening night, he will present his album “Aeternabilis”, where every track carries a Latin title.
