The exhibition presents an overview of books by Kristján Guðmundsson (1941–2025), one of
Iceland’s foremost postwar artists, from the collection of the Living Art Museum.

Guðmundsson made a significant contribution to Icelandic art history with works that investigated the very nature of art and the limits of artistic mediums. Throughout his long career, he often made use of the form and function of the book to explore ideas about time, space and sequence.

The Living Art Museum is an artist-run museum founded 1978 in Reykjavik, Iceland. Guðmundsson was a founding member of the museum and donated numerous works to the museum in his lifetime, many of which are considered key artworks in the collection as well as in the history of Icelandic Art.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Malmö Artist’s Book Biennial, Malmö Konsthall and The Living Art Museum. Curated by H.K. Rannversson, Director, The Living Art Museum.
