Lars Fredrikson – An Intensified perception

at

During the exhibition’s final weekend, Lars Fredrikson specialists Jonas (J) Magnusson and Léa Dreyer organize a weekend seminar August 23–24 dedicated to the artist at Malmö Konsthall. Together with writers, artists, physicists, and philosophers from Sweden and France, they will present and discuss the different phases and explorations in the singular trajectory of the artist.

The seminar, “Lars Fredrikson – An Intensified Perception: Energy drawings, psycho-pulses & vibratory spaces”, offers two days of interventions on the artistic practices of Lars Fredrikson and will be conducted in English. Participants are welcome to attend both days or selected parts of the program.

Lars Fredrikson’s work ranges from paintings and inox sculptures, to book-works and “fax-drawings”; from engravings and “dynamic structures”, to video-works and sound-works; from lumino-kinetic works and translations, to works on virtual spaces and radioactivity. During this two-day event, Fredrikson’s uncompromising and multifaceted artistic practices will be approached and reflected on from a large variety of perspectives. Fredrikson’s work will also be present through commented visual examples and sound samples.

Participants: Daniel Birnbaum (writer, philosopher, curator); Francis Cohen (poet and philosopher); Michèle Cohen-Halimi (philosopher and professor at Université Paris 8); Léa Dreyer (art historian, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne); Jonas Enander (physicist and writer); Dan Fröberg (artist); Jonas (J) Magnusson (writer, artistic researcher and editor of OEI magazine); Isabelle Sordage (sound artist).

The program is conceived by Jonas (J) Magnusson in collaboration with Léa Dreyer and carried out with the support of Institut Français de Suède.

The new book “Andra våglängder, andra rymder för konsten. Om Lars Fredrikson” by Jonas (J) Magnusson (1072 pages, OEI editör, 2025) will be available in the bookstore at Malmö konsthall for a special release price during the weekend.
