Dar Al Sulh – Conversation Series
4.8 – 5.8 2022
In collaboration with the Iraqi Cultural Association of Malmö, Malmö Konsthall is hosting a series of conversations that relate to the project Dar Al Suhl within a local context.
Michael Rakowitz’s exhibition The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist (Room G), September 2019 – January 2020, was with 90 000 visitors the most visited exhibition at Malmö Konsthall in ten years. The exhibition was produced in collaboration with the Iraqi Cultural Association of Malmö who hosted the well-attended vernissage, held guided tours of the exhibition and organised a number of events under the exhibition period. This August, Michael Rakowitz returns to Malmö with the artist Regine Basha and Dar Al Sulh, a project that they started together in 2013 with Professor Ella Shohat. The main focus of Dar Al Sulh is to establish a space dedicated to conciliation, a space shaped by the preparing and sharing of food and the conversations that take place during a meal. In collaboration with the Iraqi Cultural Association of Malmö, Malmö Konsthall is hosting a seminar during Michael Rakowitz and Regine Bashas’s visit, a series of conversations that relate to the Dar Al Suhl project within a local context. As project leader for Dar Al Sulh Malmö, Lina Al-Nahar has compiled a series of themes for discussion and invited guest speakers to participate.
