SUMMARY:Fylkingen c/o Malmö Konsthall: Concert & performance

In collaboration with Fylkingen—one of the world’s oldest artist-run\, non-profit associations for experimental music and art—the art hall presents an evening programme featuring choreography by Adam Seid Tahir and a live performance by Luka Aron. \n\n\n\nFylkingen is an artist-run\, non-profit association for experimental music and art. It was founded in 1933\, making it one of the world’s oldest forums of its kind. More about Fylkingen. \n\n\n\nProgram: \n\n\n\n18:00–18:30 Performance: “and from their hair\, unending forest” by Adam Seid Tahir. \n\n\n\n18:50-19:30 Live performance: “Up in the Bell Tower” by Luka Aron. \n\n\n\nBoth program items take place inside the art gallery. Limited number of seats. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThanks to Nora Pollak and Malte Dahlberg at Fylkingen. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: Music & performanceWhen: Wednesday 15 April\, starting at 18:00. \n\n\n\nRestaurant Smak closes at 19:00. The art gallery closes at 20:00.Where: The exhibition hall. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAdmission free\, drop in \n\n\n\nAbout the exhibition CC Hennix \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAdam Seid Tahir \nAdam Seid Tahir (they/them) is a choreographer and creative technologist. Their two roles involve crafting performative work\, web-based work and more. Seid Tahir is interested in runology and the idea of an Afro-Nordic folklore. Their work tries to retell the history and mythology of the Nordic land on which they grew up and still live on through a queer Afro-diasporic and post-anthropocentric lens. \n\n\n\nAll of Seid Tahir’s works deal with the personal and mythological as political. Through\nthis they construct emotional and sensory fictive worlds where they critique certain\nsocietal constructions. In other words\, they use fiction to create resistance\, question\nand distort different subjects and realities. \n\n\n\nSeid Tahir has presented their work in contexts including: Kunstenfestivaldesarts (BE)\,\nMDT (SE)\, Kampnagel Summer Festival (DE)\, Tanzquartier (AT)\, Dansehallerne (DK)\,\nEmergentia (CH)\, Bâtard (BE)\, My Wild Flag (SE)\, Dubrovnik Summer Festival (HR)\,\nDance Umbrella (UK) and more. They continuously work with other artists including:\nLydia Östberg Diakité and Amina Seid Tahir. \n\n\n\n\n\nLuka Aron\nLuka Aron is a composer and performer working between Stockholm and Berlin. His music centres on the convergence of synthesis and acoustic instrumentation\, folding the force of power electronics into fragile timbral architectures shaped by breath\, pressure\, and touch. His compositions activate psychoacoustic and spatial phenomena\, probing the thresholds of perception and the edges of subjectivity. Algorithmic structures and idiosyncratic tunings create slow-moving sound fields thatthicken and distort over time—described by The Guardian as “thick\, impasto layers of slow-moving sound that completely command your attention”. \n\n\n\nAron studied at the Musik-Akademie Basel and earned a Master’s degree in electroacoustic composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Recent collaborators include Skúli Sverrisson\, Ludwig Wandinger\, Rian Treanor\, Elvin Brandhi\, and Peter Evans. He is a member of Minua and the group Roomer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdam Seid Tahir. SUMMARY:Art Workshop for Children and Youth with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\nArt Workshop for Children and Youth with Disabilities\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEducators from Malmö Konsthall and the Culture School invite children and young people with special needs to a creative workshop. Bring your family\, a companion\, or a friend. \n\n\n\nThe workshop is free\, but registration is required. When you sign up\, please choose whether you want to attend from 1:00–2:30 PM or 2:30–4:00 PM. Register for the workshop here. \n\n\n\nWe gather to create together. Using spirographs\, colors\, and patterns\, we make our own artworks inspired by simple shapes and repetitions. Everyone participates in their own way and at their own pace. For those who wish\, we’ll start with a short introduction to the artist CC Hennix’s exhibition\, but it’s just as fine to start creating right away. \n\n\n\nThe workshop is inspired by the current exhibition of Catherine Christer Hennix. Hennix worked with both visual art and sound\, and is considered a pioneer of what is known as minimalism. Her art often explores repetition\, small changes\, and concentration. Her works also reflect mathematics\, spirituality\, and questions of identity. She is especially known for her slow\, meditative drone music\, but she also created installations\, sculptures\, and paintings. \n\n\n\nThe workshop is a collaboration between Malmö Culture School and Malmö Konsthall\, and is part of a Saturday program for children and young people with disabilities. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: WorkshopWhen: Sunday\, April 26\, 1:00–2:30 PM and 2:30–4:00 PMWhere: Verkstan \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFree entry\, registration required. SUMMARY:Hilary Jeffery & Marcus Pal
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nPhoto: Michael Yu\n\n\nHilary Jeffery & Marcus Pal\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn their first public performance as a duo\, Hilary Jeffery and Marcus Pal present a full day of music with roots in their work with Catherine Christer Hennix in the ensemble Chora(s)san Time-Court Mirage. Hennix’s “inifinitary composition” Soliton(e) Star\, which is continuously sounding as part of the current exhibition\, constitutes the sonic ground state that the two musicians will gradually traverse over the course of the day. \n\n\n\nUsing trombone\, trumpet and voice in multilayered fields of long sustained tones\, precisely tuned to Soliton(e) Star according to the principles of just intonation\, the musicians will reactivate the musical and philosophical practice refined by Hennix in the context of her work with Chora(s)san Time-Court Mirage. Central to this practice is that the music is allowed to form over a long period of time\, and that minimal significance is attributed to how any given episode of sound begins or ends. The main focus instead lies on sonic depth and harmonic fusion in momentary attention to sound\, a focus which can lead the attentive listener all the way through the sound and out to its reverse side\, where experience gains new and mystical meaning\, entirely freed from time.   \n\n\n\nConcert format\n\n\n\nHilary Jeffery and Marcus Pal will perform repeatedly throughout the day starting at 11:00 when the exhibition space opens. The day concludes with a continuous episode of sustained tuning\, from 17:00 to 18:30\, at which point the audience is guaranteed to encounter the music in its fully activated form. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: ConcertWhen: Tuesday\, May 5\, 11:00–18:30 \n\n\n\nThe art hall and Restaurant Smak close at 19:00.Where: The art hall \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFree entry\, no registration required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHilary Jeffery\nHilary Jeffery (b. 1971\, Surbiton) plays\, composes and teaches music\, and specialises in brass instruments. He met CC Hennix in 2005\, when they immediately initiated the practice that became Chora(s)san Time-Court Mirage. They worked closely together until 2023. \n\n\n\n\nMarcus Pal\nMarcus Pal (b. 1991\, Stockholm) is a sound-artist\, composer and theorist focusing on the phenomenology of intensity\, clarity and possibility as it manifests in the perception of tones\, chords and harmony. Marcus worked closely with Hennix between 2013 and 2023.

SUMMARY:Workshop: Hennix\, Lacan and the Real (in Swedish)
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nCatherine Christer Hennix\, “Untitled (Les quatre discours)”\, ca 1990s. Photo: Ben DeHaan. Courtesy Blank Forms\, New York.\n\n\nWorkshop: Hennix\, Lacan and the Real (in Swedish)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBased on the ongoing exhibition with CC Hennix\, Malmö Konsthall invites you to a workshop with researcher and Lacan scholar Ervik Cejvan. How can we understand reality through and beyond language? And how can art generate new ways of looking at meaning? \n\n\n\nCC Hennix’s artistic practice is both multi-layered and philosophically profound. As an artist\, musician and mathematician\, she was drawn to questions relating to the nature of knowledge and consciousness. During the 1990s\, she became interested in the ideas of French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan\, including his “mathème” – a set of symbols and formulas that he developed as a pedagogical tool for formalising and presenting the psychoanalytic teaching. She was also drawn to his later work\, where he used topological models (such as the Möbius strip) to illustrate the theories on a more direct and intuitive level. \n\n\n\nThe workshop introduces elements of Lacan’s psychoanalytic theory in CC Hennix’s works at Malmö Konsthall. We will gather in the Workshop for a short lecture\, followed by a tour of the exhibition and a practical part where we elaborate on Hennix’s and Lacan’s intuitive methods. What dimensions are unlocked when we break through the symbolic and imaginary formations of understanding? \n\n\n\nThe workshop is led by Ervik Cejvan\, researcher in Philosophy of Religion at Lund University. His own research explores questions of exaggeration\, excess and transgression at the intersection between philosophy\, art\, psychoanalysis and spirituality. He has previously collaborated with\, among others\, Institutet\, Alltet and Aning – Förening för Filosofi och Psykoanalys. \n\n\n\nRead more about the exhibition here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: WorkshopWhen: Wednesday\, 13 May\, 17:30–19:00Where: The Workshop \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAdmission free\, drop in \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nErvik Cejvan\, researcher in Philosophy of Religion at Lund University.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCatherine Christer Hennix\, “Bichromatic Tangle of Topological Space Curves”\, 1993/2026. This is the largest presentation of her work in Scandinavia and her first show ever in the south of Sweden. \n\n\n\nSince the early 2000s\, Bouchra Khalili\, who lives in Vienna\, has been working with a wide variety of media\, including installation\, film\, photography\, printmaking and textile. In her work\, she addresses issues related to belonging\, community\, and democracy. At Malmö Konsthall\, Khalili lets the works go in dialogue with the building’s existing architecture by creating a site-specific presentation. DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nCollage by Christina Neuss.\n\n\nPerformance: The Upheaval\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA site-specific dance performance by Skånes Dansteater about ecological sustainability and relationships. Come and go as you like. \n\n\n\nSkånes Dansteater\, together with choreographer Philippe Blanchard and dramaturge Maika Knoblich\, has created “The Upheaval” – an exploratory project on ecologically sustainable practices in the performing arts. It begins with a dance performance and then transitions into a panel discussion on the same theme. Read more about the panel discussion here. \n\n\n\nIn the project\, six dancers have developed a site-specific work inspired by philosopher Édouard Glissant’s concept of opacity. Rather than seeking fixed origins or meanings\, the work invites us to observe a web of relationships\, histories\, and gestures. Can dance – as a temporal and embodied art form – offer a way of thinking and creating that is ecologically attuned\, relationally grounded\, and politically relevant? \n\n\n\nAt Konsthallstorget\, you are invited to experience the exploratory process and practice of *The Upheaval*. SUMMARY:Panel discussion: The Upheaval
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nCollage by Christina Neuss. \n\n\nPanel discussion: The Upheaval\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 2025\, choreographer Philippe Blanchard\, dramaturg Maika Knoblich\, and Skånes Dansteater initiated an ongoing exploratory project on how performing arts practitioners can take a more active and responsible role in addressing the ecological crisis. In this panel discussion\, they invite the audience to jointly explore what art can communicate and offer in times of crisis that other disciplines may not. The discussion will be held in English. \n\n\n\nIn a time when the climate crisis is accelerating\, their questions move beyond emissions data toward a critical reflection on the ethical dimensions of our methods\, the infrastructures that support them\, and the symbolic economies within which they circulate. In this context\, they are developing a dance work based on philosopher Édouard Glissant’s concept of opacity. In their research\, they ask: Can we imagine artistic practices that embody such an ethics—practices that do not seek to extract or explain\, but to relate\, resonate\, and respond? \n\n\n\nParticipants: Philippe Blanchard (FR)\, lecturer\, educator\, curator and artist working with sustainable methodologies in performative practice\, Max Liljefors\, Professor of Art History and Visual Studies at Lund University\, and Lucy Smalley\, project manager at KOAS\, Malmö Konsthall. \n\n\n\nModerator: Maika Knoblich (DE)\, performance artist\, choreographer\, and lighting designer. \n\n\n\nThe conversation is part of Demokrativeckan Malmö Möts. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: Panel discussionWhen: Saturday 13 June\, 2–3 pmWhere: C–salen \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAdmission free\, drop in \n\n\n\nDemokrativeckan Malmö Möts\nThis event is part of Demokrativeckan Malmö Möts\, 12–18 June — a week where Malmö comes together to explore democracy and the future with courage\, hope\, and new solutions through meetings\, conversations\, and experiences. The event is free and open to everyone. The full programme is available here.

SUMMARY:Hakawati: Meet the storyteller Said Hamrit
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nBouchra Khalili\, Video still from “The Tempest Society”\, 2017. Courtesy the artist and mor charpentier\, Paris \n\n\nHakawati: Meet the storyteller Said Hamrit\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInspired by Bouchra Khalili’s themes of migration\, identity\, and life stories\, Malmö Konsthall and the Swedish-Algerian Association invite you to a Hakawati tour with Said Hamrit. \n\n\n\nIn Morocco\, Al Halaqa has existed for several hundred years\, and the tradition encompasses the different meanings of the Arabic word halaqa: circle\, ring\, and gathering. The audience forms a circle around the storyteller\, and the circle becomes a focal point for traditional oral storytelling. Hakawati is the Arabic word for storyteller. \n\n\n\nSaid Hamrit tells his life story – from growing up in Algeria and dreaming of university studies in Europe\, to years of uncertainty as an undocumented person in several countries. \n\n\n\nToday\, Said works as a manager at a Swedish government agency. During the tour\, he shares the journey that brought him from Algeria to Malmö\, the challenges he has faced along the way\, and how he reached where he is today. \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nIn collaboration with ABF Malmö.
