SUMMARY:Performance with Ingela Ihrman: One Fig
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nIngela Ihrman\, One Fig\, 2020. Still from video.\n\n\nPerformance with Ingela Ihrman: One Fig\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIngela Ihrman – Frutti di Mare – is an exhibition where the artist in her works examines the human being’s complicated relationship to herself and other living beings. By wearing her sculptural costumes\, she seeks herself in other existences – in the passion flower\, the giant otter\, the oil bird or the fir cone – and uses humor as a tool to explore what it means to be someone\, or something. \n\n\n\nA person donned in a purple fig costume divides itself in two halves as if a knife was cutting through the fruit. Ingela Ihrman’s performances are often performances in one act: the flower blooms\, the fig splits\, the tree wanders. But behind the simple process hides complex questions about belonging\, identity\, origin and reproduction\, and about the nature of being social. Who is actually looking at whom\, and how do we relate to each other? \n\n\n\nBy activating her works\, Ihrman wants to show that life and time also pass in the art halls\, and that the art space is not a freezer box where time stands still. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: PerformanceWhen: Sun 15.10 at 13.30–13.45 \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDrop in\, free entrance

Dressed in a giant mussel mantle made of blue silk fabric\, acrylic paint and various kinds of plastic\, she laid in her bathtub while reading texts from Seaweedsbladet # 1 – a newspaper she made in 2017 that was distributed to 3500 households in Seved. \n\n\n\n\nThere is a membrane between the internal organs of a giant clam and the hard calcareous shell. The membrane is called the mantle and it’s here – between the hard that encloses the soft\, pearls evolve. When I wear the mantle\, my body becomes the soft interior of the mussel and the bathtub becomes the hard shell. The apartment’s concrete walls forms the structure that the clam reside in. \nIngela Ihrman\n\n\n\nThe fall exhibition at Malmö Konsthall is the largest presentation to date of the internationally recognized Swedish artist Ingela Ihrman. SUMMARY:Performance with Ingela Ihrman: The Passion Flower
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nIngela Ihrman\, The Passion Flower. Performance at Wellcome Collection in London 2022.\n\n\nPerformance with Ingela Ihrman: The Passion Flower\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIngela Ihrman – Frutti di Mare – is a performance-oriented exhibition where the artist in her works examines the human being’s complicated relationship to herself and other living beings. By wearing her sculptural costumes\, she seeks herself in other existences – in the passion flower\, the giant otter\, the fir cone or the oil bird – and uses humor as a tool to explore human shortcomings and emotions. The performance The Passion Flower stages the blooming and pollination of the blue passion flower. \n\n\n\nIngela Ihrman’s performances raise complex questions surrounding belonging\, identity\, origin and reproduction. When the body is concealed\, the objectifying gaze is redirected\, and questions who is really watching whom\, and how we relate to each other. \n\n\n\nThe Passion Flower is part of the work series The Inner Sea. The audience is offered to step into the roles of hummingbirds or butterflies that have come to pollinate the flower. As in all of Ihrman’s performances\, the figures behave in their characteristic and idiosyncratic ways – they emit scents\, excrete fluids\, give birth\, feed and reproduce. \n\n\n\nThe fall exhibition at Malmö Konsthall is the largest presentation to date of the internationally recognized Swedish artist Ingela Ihrman. Welcome to the opening of Malmö Konsthall’s big autumn exhibition on September 29 at 19. \n\n\n\nFor Ingela Ihrman\, social relations\, scientific facts and personal experiences function as starting points for artistic exploration. The works in the exhibition refer to modern society and humankind’s complicated relationship with itself and other living beings. Through sculptural costumes and performances\, Ihrman explores the possibilities and limitations of the self\, embracing in the exhibition Frutti di Mare the story of how the first life on earth once emerged from the depths of the sea. \n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\n19:00 The exhibition opens19:30 Welcoming speech and introduction to the exhibition by Mats Stjernstedt\, director of Malmö Konsthall. SUMMARY:Woman Life Freedom: Together we create the weaver of resistance
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\nOn the anniversary of the murder of Jina (Mahsa) Amini\, we gather in solidarity with the victims of violence and create a protest banner.\n\n\nWoman Life Freedom: Together we create the weaver of resistance\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNearly a year has passed since the state-sanctioned murder of Jina (Mahsa) Amini\, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman – the murder that ignited the Jin\, Jiyan\, Azadi revolution. Feminists for Jina (Sweden) invites you to a workshop at Malmö Konsthall where we share thoughts\, concerns\, and hopes as we collectively create a protest banner – a symbol of solidarity\, protest\, and remembrance.\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe murder of Jina (Mahsa) Amini sparked a widespread uprising where women\, queers\, transgender individuals\, and other oppressed groups acted as vanguards for the Jin Jiyan Azadi revolution – a struggle that continues today. Feminists for Jina (Sweden) welcome everyone striving for a world where gender\, sexuality\, class\, nationality\, ethnicity\, and religion are not grounds for oppression\, to a workshop and a day filled with solidarity at Malmö Konsthall. During the workshop\, we will engage in discussions\, watch a documentary\, listen to presentations\, read letters and messages from Iran\, and enjoy live music\, all while collectively creating a protest banner through painting\, sewing\, and writing. \n\n\n\nThe workshop invites all\, regardless of identity and background\, to participate. Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply passionate about supporting women’s rights\, you can contribute to a struggle that transcends borders. Using the banner as our canvas\, we will blend colors\, ideas\, emotions\, and stories that reflect the diversity and strength of the global community behind Jin\, Jiyan\, Azadi. We will provide images and slogans for screen printing on fabric – feel free to bring your own t-shirts and/or cloth bags. \n\n\n\nProgramme \n\n\n\n11:00 Workshop opens11:15 Welcome speech11:45 Text by Asma Balouch (activist) read by the organizers12:00 Voices of Resistance – PEN Malmö reads texts from Iran13:00 Lecture by Azar Mahloujian (author)13:45 Lecture by Fataneh Farahani (professor of ethnology) \n\n\n\nBreak \n\n\n\n14:15 Live music with Maryam Javidmehr (musician)14:30 Lecture by Kaveh Kermanshahi (activist)15:15 Lecture by Diana Mulinari (professor of gender studies)16:00 Lecture by Samira Moatazedi (author)16:30 Voices of Resistance – PEN Malmö reads texts from Iran16:45 Closing conversation \n\n\n\nThe program is organized by Feminists for Jina (Sweden) in collaboration with Malmö Art Hall\, PEN Malmö\, ABF Malmö\, and KKV Graphics in Malmö. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: WorkshopWhen: Sat 2.9 at 11–17Where: The Workshop \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDrop in\, free entrance

DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\n\n\nAnn Rosén performing Drawing Sessions. \n\n\n\n\nConsert & book release: Ann Rosén\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWelcome to the concert and release evening for Ann Rosén’s book Recycling the Work Process. The book contains a graphic score\, texts and Rosén’s own pictures that help the reader to understand and interpret the graphic score. Musicians Anna Lindal (violin) and Lise-Lotte Norelius (electronics) play parts of the score on the release. \n\n\n\nThe score in Recycling the Work Process: A Composition in Three Movements for Instruments by Choice is a description — a way of conveying a feeling and an experience — of Rosén’s forty-two-year artistic process. Based on works\, projects and time periods\, Rosén has created symbols that she uses in the composition to indicate different types of playing styles\, free to interpret: Resonance\, Accelerando full stop\, Back and forth\, Change direction\, Noise\, Mute and Resistance. The book also contains essays by composer Bennett Hogg (UK)\, artist Gunnel Pettersson (SE)\, and music journalist Julian Cowley (UK). The book is sold at the release price of SEK 350 during the evening. \n\n\n\nAnn Rosén (born 1956) is a composer\, musician and visual artist who began her career in the visual arts in the 1980s with interactive\, intelligent and intriguing works. Since the 1990s\, her artistic focus has been on music and sound art\, and Rosén has created more than 100 original works. Rosén’s art revolves around the exploration of interpersonal communication; how we can understand ourselves in relation to the outside world and the barriers that can arise between us and others. Her work has been presented at\, among other places\, the Royal Swedish Opera\, Moderna Museet in Stockholm and The Southbank Centre in London. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: Consert & book releaseWhen: Wed 30.8 at 18VWhere: C-salen \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAdmission free

SUMMARY:Performance with Roman Signer
DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n \n \n\n\n\nRoman Signer. Wasserinstallation\, 1999. Courtesy Bonnefantenmuseum\, Maastricht. Photo: Peter Cox.\n\n\n\n\nPerformance with Roman Signer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRoman Signer’s works often appear in public space\, both as a result of the artist’s engagement with rivers and streams\, bridges and buildings but also in the form of public actions. During the first day of the exhibition\, Roman Signer performs a performance when he activates the work Wasserinstallation (Water installation). The activation lasts about five minutes and is followed by a guided tour (in Swedish). \n\n\n\nWater is a leitmotiv in Roman Signer’s life and work. It appears in a great many guises: as a rhythmic element\, a structuring principle or an all-destroying force. Signer himself used to embark on strenuous kayak trips in isolated mountainous areas\, until\, one day\, one of his friends failed to return from such a trip. The kayak has been a recurring element in his work ever since. Wasserinstallation creates a vacuum where the beginning and end of an imaginary journey converge. In this domain of silence\, meanings flow into one another effortlessly\, without ever taking definite shape. \n\n\n\nThe eight-armed water basin entitled Wasserinstallation was designed by the artist in 1999. As a one-off event on June 30\, 1999\, Signer took a seat in the kayak and navigated the eight channels. At Malmö Konsthall\, he activates the work again. The activation is followed by a guided tour of the exhibition lasting approximately 45 minutes. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: PerformanceWhen: Sat 3.6 at 14–14.05Where: Main exhibition hall \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDrop in\, free entrance

Welcome to an evening of art\, performance and music. Restaurant SMAK’s bar is open all evening. \n\n\n\nIn a career spanning over fifty years\, Roman Signer has redefined what sculpture can be by working with materials in various time-based processes. Signer’s work has come to represent a distinct style within the genre of sculpture\, and he is now considered one of the leading representatives of process and conceptual art. This exhibition at Malmö Konsthall is Signer’s first major solo exhibition in Sweden and Scandinavia. Read more about the exhibition here. \n\n\n\nCo-host of the party is the art and culture association PLX\, which is responsible for the program. Since 2006\, PLX has created performances\, installations and festivals both in Sweden and internationally\, and annually organizes the esteemed PLX festival in the Blekinge archipelago. \n\n\n\nProgramme \n\n\n\n19–21 Opening in the presence of the artist Roman SignerWelcome speeches & introduction by Mats Stjernstedt\, Director of Malmö Konsthall\, and Inger Lindstedt\, Chair of The Society for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Green Parks in Malmö. Music & performance with Francesca Burattelli\, Richard Krantz and others. \n\n\n\nItalian-born Francesca Burattelli has established herself on the Danish music and art scene in recent years with her distinctive experimental pop music-performances. Burattelli’s unique vocals are the mainstay of her electronic universe\, which embraces pop\, rap and orchestral elements. \n\n\n\nThe Swedish artist Richard Krantz is interested in language\, loneliness and humor. He often works with ideas that spring from universal and personal everyday considerations and take the form of absurd performances\, paradoxical text works and large-scale sculptures that could be taken from “real life”. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition at Malmö Konsthall is supported by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia\, Kanton St.Gallen Kulturförderung and The Society for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Green Parks in Malmö. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation\n\n\n\nWhat: Opening & summer partyWhen: Fri 2.6 at 19Where: The exhibition space & Restaurant SMAK \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDrop in\, free entrance
