DESCRIPTION:Start\nEvents\n\n      \n  \n\nWafaa Suliman.\n\n\nHakawati: Meet the storyteller Wafaa Suliman\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this storytelling tour\, Hand in Hand together with Wafaa Suliman invites the audience into the world of the hakawati\, inspired by Bouchra Khalili’s artistic practice and the concept of Halaqas. In Arabic.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn Morocco\, Al Halaqa has existed for several hundred years\, and the tradition encompasses the different meanings of the Arabic word halaqa: circle\, ring\, and gathering. The audience forms a circle around the storyteller\, and the circle becomes a focal point for traditional oral storytelling. Hakawati is the Arabic word for storyteller. \n\n \n\n\n\nThe tour is divided into two parts: first\, a personal and historical reflection on the hakawati tradition\, its cultural significance\, and Wafaa’s own journey as a storyteller. The event is in Swedish and is part of Halaqa Day. \n\n\n\nIn Morocco\, Al Halaqa has existed for several hundred years. The tradition encompasses the different meanings of the Arabic word *halaqa*: circle\, ring\, and gathering. The listeners form a circle around the storyteller\, and the circle becomes a focal point for traditional oral storytelling. *Hakawati* is the Arabic word for storyteller. \n\n\n\nThe tour is divided into two parts: first\, a personal and historical reflection on the hakawati tradition\, its cultural significance\, and Wafaa’s own journey as a storyteller. Photo: Filip Jedraszak\n\n\nSign language-interpreted tour of How to Call a Ghost\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne of the art halls guides\, together with sign language interpreter Sara White\, gives a tour of Bouchra Khalili’s exhibition “How to Call a Ghost”. The tour is intended for people with hearing impairments. No registration is required\, and the tour is free of charge. \n\n\n\nFor inquiries\, please contact: ylva.brannstrom@malmo.se \, +46 70 934 12 92. \n\n\n\nPart of the Halaqa project\, which is funded with support from Region Skåne. \n\n\n\nAbout the exhibition: \n\n\n\nThis summer\, Malmö Konsthall presents “How to Call a Ghost” – an exhibition by the Moroccan-French artist Bouchra Khalili. The exhibition is the largest presentation of her work in Scandinavia and her first show ever in the south of Sweden. \n\n\n\nSince the early 2000s\, Bouchra Khalili\, currently based in Vienna\, has been working with a wide variety of media\, particularly film and video. In her work\, she addresses issues related to belonging\, community\, and democracy. \n\n\n\nAccessibility: \n\n\n\n– Plan your visit with our visual guide.
